Precision Boilers Surge Tanks

Precision Boilers Surge tanks are most commonly used when the steam system flows are large and multiple processes coming on and off can create surges of return condensate. Precision Boilers surge tanks are essentially CF packages without the preheater. They are pre-mounted, piped, and wired condensate receiving storage tanks. The surge tanks have a float activated make-up water valve that adds fresh water to replace condensate lost through the steam loop to maintain sufficient water level inside the tank.

Features & Benefits

  • Condensate receiving storage tanks are non-code, vented and fabricated from ¼-inch thick carbon steel, mounted on structural steel stand with pumps mounted on base, pre-piped and pre-wired prior to shipment (pump NPSH requirement determines stand height)
  • Float activated make-up water valve adds fresh water when the rate of condensate return is insufficient to maintain the water level in the companion DA
  • Level control is normally a float assembly either installed inside tank (standard) or externally mounted and piped to sight-glass water column
  • Control panel mounted on the stand contains fused magnetic starters, switches, lights, alarms, and controls
