A Guide to the Power Flame Type FD/FDM Process Burner
If you’re looking for an innovative and reliable gas burner, the ,Power Flame FD/FDM Process Burner will meet your needs and exceed your expectations. This gas burner boasts an exceptional operational range spanning from 37,500 up to 9,300,000 BTU/hr. The Power Flame Type FD/FDM is a remarkable HVAC and process burner engineered to fire process heating appliances as well as air handling systems that need indirect or direct heating of the air stream.
The direct-fired, fixed air model FD can fire at either at 90 degrees or in line with the process air flow — achieving turndowns of 40:1 or greater. However, the indirect fired, modulating air model FDM burner can achieve on-ration control over a 20:1 turndown.
The Power Flame Type FD/FDM is suitable for an expansive list of air heating and process heating applications — thanks to its high combustion efficiencies, reliable direct spark ignition, and low maintenance. As a part of an integrated combustion package, the Type FD/FDM Process Burner is available with optional pre-piped and pre-wired gas trains. It can be configured to meet your specific requirements as well as your any local or national codes.

Model FDM-modulating pie shaped dampers allow close control of air/fuel ratios over a 20:1 turndown for special gas fired air handling applications.
Type FD Process Burner Applications
The Power Flame Type FD burner is constructed to deliver hassle-free startup and long-lasting reliable performance. The Power Flame Type FD burner is uniquely engineered to fire process air heating applications that need direct heat to the air stream of the system through the use of L.P., natural, and other types of gaseous fuels. This versatile, fixed-air, direct-heating gas burner can achieve an impressive turndown ratio that exceeds 30:1 and shorter flame lengths with outstanding flame stability spanning across its whole modulating range. It represents a new generation of burners that are especially well suited for a variety of applications that move large volumes of air at high velocity.
Type FDM Process Burner Applications
The Power Flame Type FDM is engineered for high turndown operation firing into heat exchangers for air handling applications or directly into process streams of air, such as ovens and other types of lower temperature industrial applications. The Type FDM burner is fitted with moveable air dampers to the inlet of the blower assembly that facilitates on-ratio control over an impressive 20:1 turndown range. The Type FDM burner is ideally suited for indirect fired units requiring high turndowns. It can also be applied on direct fired applications where on-ratio control is required.
